Renowned actor Matthew Perry, best known as Chandler from the hit series Friends, has died from an apparent drowning. The actor was found dead this Saturday in the jacuzzi of a house in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told People magazine that officers responded to a call reporting the death of a man in his 50s, but it was unknown at the time that it was the actor.
According to the Los Angeles Times , police sources confirmed his death and assured that no sign of drugs were found at the scene. TMZ sources claim it was a cardiac arrest .
“Our sources say he was found in a jacuzzi at the home,”explained TMZ while also detailing that no drugs were found. The clarification is due to the fact that during his successful career it was known that Perry had a long history of addiction, which led him to various rehabilitation programs.

"Friends", the series that catapulted him to fame
The artist became known for his role as Chandler Bing in the successful 90s comedy, which lasted 10 seasons and featured his participation in 234 episodes. His character, who was also Monica's partner (Courtney Cox), won the affection of the entire world.
Matthew suffered from drug and alcohol problems as well as addiction to painkillers. His addictions were detailed in depth in a memoir he published last year in which he detailed the struggles he faced. The book is titled "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing": “I had to wait until I was fairly sober, and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction, to write it all down. And the main thing was that I was pretty sure it would help people,” he wrote.
Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969, and raised in Ottawa, Canada, where he attended elementary school with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. His mother, Suzanne Morrison, was a journalist and press secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Justin's father. His father, John Bennett Perry, was an actor and model.
