Whoopi suggests God supports parents who perform transgender surgeries on their children

The actress criticized Republicans who cite the Bible to oppose genital mutilation.

Famous actress and television host Caryn Elaine Johnson, better known as Whoopi Goldberg, suggested that the Bible supports gender transition surgeries on minors.

This Thursday, during The View, Goldberg discussed the Montana House of Representatives ' censure of trans Democratic lawmaker Zooey Zephyr after he lashed out at Republicans who oppose transgender surgeries on minors.

Goldberg said the House disciplinary action demonstrates that Republicans are banning free speech, completely omitting the fact that the Democratic lawmaker disrupted House proceedings.

"What are the rules that say, I don't like what you say, so I'll make a bunch of people think like I think and we'll ban you from speaking? When did that become the law of the land?" he asked, responding that there really aren't any.

After that the actress opined about the Republicans' views on parental rights. "You're telling me that, as a mother, I'm not smart enough to decide if my son and I need to have [cuidado] gender-affirming," she said.

It was then that he started talking about the Bible and criticizing those who cite the holy book to oppose transitional surgeries on minors. "They keep saying that and I keep saying what Bible are they reading? Because God was very clear," he commented.

Goldberg did not explain exactly what he means when he says that "God was very clear," nor on what part of the Bible he relies to agree with the mutilation of children's genitals.
