Two Democratic senators support investigation into Biden's classified documents

Politicians from the Biden’s own party openly said that it was necessary to investigate the president.

At least two influential Democratic senators have openly called for an investigation into Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents from his time as as vice president.

Virginia Senator Tim Kaine and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin expressed their concern and stressed the importance of uncovering all the details of the case.

"Extremely irresponsible and disturbing"

"The reports about President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents are extremely irresponsible and disturbing. These allegations should be investigated fully," Manchin told Fox News Digital.

Kaine shared this opinion, stating that the news "raises serious questions" and considered it ideal that an impartial special prosecutor be appointed to determine exactly what happened to the classified documents.

California Rep. Katie Porter was another Democrat who said she "definitely" wanted "to get answers from the White House,” though she did not explicitly request an investigation. "Classified documents belong in classified settings, and I think you heard me say oversight is not a partisan thing. Good oversight means you’re willing to hold any rule breaker to account. We should be asking for answers in a respectful way, and we should be expecting to get honest ones.” Porter said.

Democratic voters want answers

According to a recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll, 64% of the population over the age of 18 favor investigating the classified documents found in Biden's home and Penn Biden Center office. What is perhaps most telling, however, was that 54% of Democrats also support the idea.

Biden downplays case

The president does not seem to be worried that most Americans have serious concerns about the case. In fact, on Thursday, he stated that he has no regrets about hiding documents containing sensitive material that could have put the country's security at risk.

"We're fully cooperating, looking forward to getting this resolved quickly. I think you're gonna find there's nothing there. I have no regrets. I'm following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do. That's exactly what we're doing. There's no there there," he said.
