Twitter blocks users who mention Trans Day of Vengeance, even those in opposition

Individuals and media condemning the violent call were also harmed by the censorship of the social network.

This Tuesday, Twitter's vice president of trust and safety, Ella G. Irwin, reported that the social network decided to take action against thousands of posts related to the Trans Day of Vengeance call.

Irwin explained that the communications company does not support publications that incite violence "irrespective of who posts them", and announced that they have already had to automatically "sweep" from the platform more than 5,000 tweets or retweets related to the protest created by some trans activist groups.

"'Vengeance' does not imply peaceful protest. Organizing or support for peaceful protests is ok," the vice president of trust and safety at Twitter stated.

Critics in opposition are also affected

The social network's decision is not only hurting people who share the Trans Day of Vengeance poster as a form of support. Several users of the platform have reported that Twitter blocked them for incitement of violence despite the fact that the tweets explicitly criticized the event.

In fact, famous conservative user Ian Miles Cheong informed other users to avoid sharing the poster to avoid "be caught up" in Twitter bans. However, the social network has censored even those who have not shared the event poster.

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was among those who reported that her official congressional account was blocked for seven days for warning Americans about the violent plan.

Jason Robertson, co-founder of The American Tribune also claimed to have been harmed by the communications platform's move.

"Yesterday I tweeted the below and attached the graphic for the 'Trans Day of Vengeance.' Twitter locked me out for inciting violence and denied my appeal unless I deleted the tweet," he wrote.

Twitter also blocks Voz Media

Pablo Kleinman, a member of Voz Media's upper management, reported that the media outlet's Twitter account was suspended for sharing a news story related to the Trans Day of Vengeance. The tweet that caused the block did not even contain the poster of the event.

Kleinman also reported that he attempted to appeal the social network's decision. However, Twitter insists that there was a violation of its policies.
