Trump's two candidates beat Republican establishment in New Hampshire

Retired Gen. Don Bolduc will fight for a Senate seat, and Karoline Leavitt for the state's 1st Congressional District.

Two candidates supported by Donald Trump have each won victories in the New Hampshire primary. One of them is Karoline Leavitt, who was an advisor in the White House with the previous administration. Leavitt defeated Matt Mowers (R), who had the support of the state's GOP heavyweights. Karoline Leavitt will face Chris Pappas (D) for New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District.

On the other hand, Don Bolduc, a retired general endorsed by former President Donald Trump, won the New Hampshire Republican primary. Bolduc defeated who is considered to be the Republican establishment's candidate, New Hampshire Senate President Chuck Morse. Morse was supported by several leading Republicans within the state, including Governor Chris Sunuru.

The establishment does not impose itself

Chris Sunuru easily won the Republican primary re-election for governor in what would be his fourth term. This gives us an idea of Sunuru's role in the Republican party in the Granite State, but that influence wasn't enough for Republican registered voters' preferences. In both cases, Leavitt and Bolduc, Trump's nominees, prevailed over those supported by the GOP establishment.

Bolduc will face Senator Maggie Hassan (D) New Hampshire, despite being Democratic-majority, who is one of the districts where Republican Party stands a chance to win a crucial senate seat. However, electing a candidate considered very far to the right could reduce their chances of victory.

Trump's candidates... and the Democratic Party

Leavitt and Bolduc are not only Trump's candidates but they are also the Democratic Party's. The party has spent $3.2 million on a campaign to favor Trump-backed contenders to further their chances of victory in the Nov. 8 election.

With these two wins, Donald Trump has endorsed 237 candidates, with a 92% win rate, according to Ballotpedia. However, the website specializing in election results has not updated the New Hampshire results.
