The Secret Service announced Monday night that the driver who crashed a U-Haul truck into security barriers near the White House had been arrested. No one was hurt as a result of the incident.
The truck, which was a rental, crashed into the barriers at Lafayette Square, adjacent to the White House grounds. Witnesses stated that the vehicle sped up for about 13 feet before crashing into the barriers.

After the incident, the Secret Service announced that the perimeter was being closed off and the driver had been arrested.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Some details are slowly being released to the public. Media outlets such as Reuters reported that authorities are looking into a suspicious package and a Nazi flag found inside the truck. Images on social media show how the authorities carefully spread out the flag on the ground next to the truck in plain sight.
