Ohio Democratic senatorial candidate Tim Ryan pledged to provide hormones and taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries to incarcerated felons and illegal immigrants who are deemed, transgender.
Ryan, who presents himself as a "moderate" Democrat, pledged in 2019 while running for president of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a progressive nonprofit organization. In a questionnaire given to the candidates, they were asked:
"As president, will you use your executive authority to ensure that transgender and non-binary people who rely on the state for medical care — including those in prison and immigration detention — will have access to comprehensive treatment associated with gender transition, including all necessary surgical care? If yes, how will you do so?"
Ryan checked the "yes" box, but refused to explain his policies.

Fox News asked the candidate's team if he still supports taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgeries for people in prison and illegal immigrants, and did not receive a response.
Arrests of illegal aliens
In addition, the questionnaire also asked the candidates if they would commit themselves to reduce "the size of the immigration detention system by at least 75%" via methods including cutting funds from the security forces budget, ending the detention of families, and exempting immigrants from bail if they don't have money. Once again, Ryan checked the "yes" box with no explanation.
The Democrat also pledged at the time to "end the use of ICE detainers." These are notices issued by the Department of Homeland Security to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to inform them that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) will assume custody of an individual being held by the law enforcement agency.
Sex change surgery, a "radical" policy
"Taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgeries for illegal immigrants- it doesn't get more radical than that," were the statements from Ryan's Republican opponent J. D. Vance's team to Fox News.
Tim Ryan has spent this entire campaign lying to Ohioans about his record and trying to convince them that he is a moderate. The truth is, he is just a far-left liberal who wants to waste taxpayer money on crazy ideas like this. It does not belong anywhere near the U.S. Senate.
Currently, Ryan sits behind Vance in the polls, even as the Democrat tries to distance himself from views that are seen as negative by some voters in his party. "The national Democratic Party has never been good at strategic policy decisions," he told CNN on Nov. 3. He further stated that he "does not" agree with President Joe Biden running for re-election and that he has been "very clear" on the matter, taking into account his advanced age.
