Three children were killed and two were injured after a stabbing at their home in Italy, Texas, a town of about 2,000 residents about 40 miles south of Dallas.

On Friday afternoon, Ellis County Sheriff's Office deputies received a call to a home on Harris Street, Ellis County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Cozby said during a press conference. Upon arrival to the house, they found three children dead and two others seriously injured. The latter were taken to the hospital.

The sheriff's office reported the arrest of a suspect without giving further details about the identity. However, Dallas station WFAA-TV reported that the woman taken into custody is the mother of the children.

WFAA-TV also reported that Child Protective Services (CPS) confirmed that the children are siblings and had been relocated to the care of another relative.
