The suspect in the shooting rampage that left three people dead at a Yakima, Washington convenience store early Tuesday died of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The suspect found dead is Jarid Haddock, 21, who was on the run after committing the murders. The shooting occurred at the Circle K store in Yakima, a city of about 96,000 people in central Washington, about 60 miles from Seattle. Yakima Police Chief Matthew Murray reported that officers found three people dead inside and outside the store in what appeared to be a "random" shooting. Murray said police did not know the motive of the killings and released the suspect's photograph.
Subsequently, after shooting and killing his victims, Haddock borrowed a woman's phone at a Yakima Target store and called his mother to inform her that "I killed those people." He returned the phone to the woman and walked away. The woman then called 911 and told the operater what she had heard. After tracking the suspect, a SWAT team located Haddock at a marijuana store. They found him dead with what appeared to be a self inflicted gun wound.
