Former President Donald Trump sharply criticized Joe Biden for "deliberately allowing" the Chinese spy balloon to continue flying over U.S. skies. The object, detected this Thursday, set off red flags around the country, including those of Trump who, in a press release, accused the current president of being "weak on China”:
Joe Biden has surrendered America’s borders to illegal aliens, and now he has surrendered American airspace to Communist China. Biden is deliberately allowing a Chinese spy balloon to soar freely over the continental United States.
Trump went further and claimed that the decision not to shoot down the balloon, which the Pentagon claimed was because they did not want the debris to injure people on the ground, was a direct consequence of Biden's "soft" policy with Beijing:
Biden is weak on China because he is controlled and owned by China. He dismantled the Trump administration’s initiative countering Chinese espionage in the United States, he canceled the ban on the Chinese intelligence weapon known as TikTok, and he is allowing China to buy up critical infrastructure all over the country, including real estate near sensitive U.S. military bases.
Trump claims Chinese spies are all over the country
Not only that, the former president claimed that the Chinese balloon is only the latest stunt the Asian country is carrying out in the country. In fact, in statements reported by Breitbart, he said that he is aware that there are many Chinese spies on U.S. soil:
It’s rarely even mentioned that China has many thousands of spies working in the United States in business, finance, academia, technology, media and likely, even government, very sadly.
In addition, Donald Trump assured that one of his priorities, should he be elected in the 2024 presidential election, will be to put an end to the threat posed by China to all Americans:
When President Trump is back in the White House, he will kick Chinese intelligence operations out of the country and force China to give up any U.S. holdings that put national security at risk. A strong signal must be sent that America will not allow China to trample our sovereignty and illegally surveil our country.
China asks the U.S. to remain calm
While Trump demanded on social media that the balloon be shot down, the director of China's Foreign Affairs Office, Wang Yi, asked the United States to "remain calm" and confirmed that the object is indeed property of his country.
He did so in a press release which was published, as reported by Infobae, after Wang and the nation's Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, spoke about the controversial object:
China is a responsible country and has always strictly respected international law. We do not accept any unsubstantiated speculation. When faced with unexpected situations, both parties must remain calm, communicate in a timely manner, avoid errors of judgment and manage differences.
