Qatar: first team eliminated from the World Cup

Qatar was eliminated from the World Cup after a loss to Senegal and a tie between the Netherlands and Ecuador.

Qatar is the first team to be eliminated from the World Cup. The host team lost 1-3 against Senegal in a Group A game on the second day of the World Cup. Between their most recent loss and the tie between Ecuador and the Netherlands, Qatar has become the worst organizer in World Cup history in terms of results.

Senegal was superior throughout the 90 minute game. They took the lead when Boulaye Dia scored a goal shortly before the end of the first half (0-1). At the start of the second half, Famara Diédhiou scored the goal that practically sealed the deal (0-2).

Qatar scored in the 78th minute. Mohammed Muntari gave his team a glimmer of hope (1-2), although it was short-lived, as Bamba made it 1-3 in the 84th minute.

This defeat makes Qatar the worst World Cup host ever, as none of them have ever been eliminated before the third round. Qatar remains in last place in its group, behind Senegal, Ecuador and the Netherlands.
