Police neutralize and kill armed assailant at Indiana Walmart

At least one person was injured during the shooting by an active shooter who fired throughout the store and at officers.

At least one person was injured in a shooting at a Walmart in Evansille, Indiana on Thursday night. The assailant was shot and killed by police.

Police were notified of the shooting shortly before 10 p.m. local time, Sgt. Anna Gray told reporters. When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, who fired several shots at the responders. In their response, the police killed the active shooter.

The one recorded injured person was taken to a local hospital. According to police, there could be more injured, as people fled the store during the shooting. Sgt. Gray asked anyone who may have been injured to contact police.

No officers were injured and neither the identity of the suspect nor the motivation for the attack has been disclosed. The Evansville Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
