Ana Cecilia Gervasi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, announced on Thursday that she called the Peruvian ambassadors from Bolivia, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia after these countries publicly disregarded President Dina Boluarte in support of former President Pedro Castillo.
The Foreign Minister explained that the four aforementioned countries would be meddling in Peru's "internal affairs" by not recognizing the nation's new leader and defending Castillo despite having perpetrated a coup d'état with the closing of Congress.
"We have given these countries time to express some change with respect to their first manifestation and given that they haven't acted, it has been decided to call in consultation to our ambassadors," she said.

According to Gervasi, the embassies in these countries will now be at the "chargé d'affaires level."
Despite this decision, the Minister assured that she will continue to show her willingness to carry out a dialogue within the framework of mutual respect.
The Peruvian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed their "conviction in the importance of complying with the international obligations set forth in the Inter-American System and in particular in the Inter-American Democratic Charter. The decisions adopted by the powers of the State to safeguard democratic institutionality and the rule of law in Peru must be respected."

International support
Following the swearing in of Dina Boluarte, several countries have supported the efforts of the Peruvian government to maintain democratic institutions and try to solve the social crisis it is facing.
The first to come out in support of the decisions of the Peruvian authorities was the United States. Later, Boluarte met with ambassadors from the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Romania, Greece, Spain, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands all participated in the meeting and expressed their support.
