The "After School Satan Club" created in order to combat Christian "indoctrination" gained official approval to begin holding meetings at Chesapeake Elementary School in Virginia. This new program was created by the Satanic Temple, which professes "a non-theistic religion that views Satan as a literary figure that represents a metaphorical construct of rejecting tyranny and championing the human mind and spirit."
A flyer promoting the new program says, "Hey Kids! Let's Have Fun At After School Satan Club!" The club's first meeting will be held on December 15 at B.M. Williams Elementary School. Its leaders are being criticized by parents in the area, who refuse to allow the club to be included in their children's schools.

Rose Bastet is the organizer of the after-school satanic club and her recent social media profile pictures include an illustration of a woman with blood dripping from her eyes and mouth, a depiction of another woman removing her skin to reveal a demon underneath and finally a caricature of God saying "disappointments, all of you."
Another event organizer, June Everett, recently shared what could be the club's mascot: a cartoon depiction of the devil. She further commented that this was the fifth after-school satanic club to be held.
Chesapeake Public Schools issued a statement on Friday due to a flurry of criticism over the implementation of the new program in the schools and stated, "Over the years, different religious groups have requested and been allowed to rent our facilities after hours. By law, CPS cannot discriminate based on beliefs among groups wishing to rent our facilities." However, students who wish to participate in the "satanic club" must obtain parental permission to attend.
