Most Americans believe that the Biden Administration persecutes its political opponents. That is the result of a survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group for the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC).
When asked if "the Biden administration has crossed an important ethical line by persecuting its political opponents," 51.4% of respondents answered "yes." Only 41.2% said "no." According to AMAC, these data indicate that "the Biden administration's efforts to intimidate and silence its political rivals - Trump in particular - may be backfiring."
Hispanics, Asians and whites overwhelmingly believe that Biden crossed the line
Among those surveyed, 74.2% of Hispanics considered that Biden has crossed the line with respect to the Republican Party. A majority of Asian Americans (56.3%), whites (55.5%) and other ethnicities (76%) also believe there is political persecution. Only black voters had a majority (69%) say "no."
Older people were more likely to consider that the president has crossed an important ethical line than younger people. In fact, 62.4% of voters aged 18-24 said the Biden Administration had not overstepped the boundaries. Slightly less than half (47.7%) of voters aged 25-34 reported feeling that the line had been crossed. Although it these respondents were not in the majority, there were still fewer who believed that Biden was not guilty of persecuting Republicans. Slightly more voters aged 35-44 responded "no" (48.2%). However, the proportion of those who think Biden had not crossed the line falls off drastically with older groups: just 36.1% of voters aged 45 to 64 and 37% of voters aged 65 and older.
AMAC launched the survey in the wake of recent actions and statements made by members of the Biden Administration or members of the Democratic Party against their political adversaries. "Over the past few weeks, the Biden Administration has raided the home of former president Donald Trump, has made it clear that it is devoting vast resources to multiple criminal investigations of Trump and other prominent conservatives, has sent the FBI to detain pro-life activists at gunpoint for protesting outside abortion clinics, and has repeatedly demonized Republicans as fascists and domestic terrorists."
