And in honor of this special date, we at Voz Media bring you a summary of the upcoming projects of the galactic saga, both on the big and small screen. May the 4th be with you.

"Ahsoka" (release date: August)

A few weeks ago the third season of "The Mandalorian" came to a close, but fans of the popular saga are aware that they won't have to wait long before they can enjoy another "Star Wars" story: "Ahsoka." The series starring Rosario Dawson will arrive in August 2023 on Disney Plus and will tell the long-awaited story of one of the saga's most famous Jedi: Ahsoka, Anakin Skywalker's apprentice before he turned to the dark side of the force.

Not many details have been revealed about the new series, but it will follow the Jedi as she hunts down the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character seen in Clone Wars who acts as a bridge between the Galactic Empire and the First Order. Her objective? To locate young Ezra Bridger, a Jedi who disappeared without a trace many years ago.

The show is written by Dave Filoni, who wrote "The Mandalorian" with Jon Favreau. It will include Hayden Christensen, the actor who played Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode I," "Star Wars: Episode II" and "Star Wars: Episode III."

"Skeleton Crew" (release date: late 2023)

"Skeleton Crew" was one of the big hits of the Star Wars Celebration that took place in 2022. Starring Jude Law, among others, the series will tell how a group of four children lost in the galaxy try to return home in the era of the New Republic.

The creator of "Skeleton Crew" is Jon Watts, responsible for the "Spider-Man" trilogy starring Tom Holland. The children starring in this new adventure will be played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. They will play the four lost children who will make returning home an adventure.

"Andor" Season 2 (premiere date: August 2024)

The first season of "Andor" proved to be a real discovery for the most diehard fans of the saga. The second promises to provide a lot of adventure and finish telling the whole story of Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna.

In this second season, fans will see how Cassian Andor ends up being part of the New Republic and thus becomes one of the main characters of "Rogue One." These twelve episodes will definitively conclude Cassian's story and will do so, as the show's own protagonist revealed to Entertainment Weekly with "the same respect, rigor, intensity and energy" that characterized the first season.

"The Acolyte" (release date: 2024)

2024 will be the year when the "Star Wars" saga decides to open a new window and show us the birth of the dark side of the force. It will do so with "The Acolyte," a series for Disney Plus, which will be set in the golden age of the Jedi Order, when the High Republic ruled, before the Empire rose to power.

Little is known about one of the most anticipated series of the galactic saga. It is only certain that Leslye Headland will be the show's manager and that the first season will feature eight episodes which will be set 100 years before the birth of Anakin Skywalker. According to the show's synopsis, the series will be "a mystery thriller that will take us into a galaxy of dark secrets and emerging powers of the dark side during the last days of the High Republic."

"The First Jedi" (release date: unconfirmed)

Moving on to the big screen, the first confirmed project is The First Jedi. Also set years before the events of the original trilogies, the film will be directed by James Mangold and tell the story of the first Jedi, the one who discovered the force 25,000 years before Anakin Skywalker was born.

Mangold said, in statements reported by Variety the kind of movie he would like to make with "The First Jedi." As he stated, he thought of doing "a kind of biblical epic like 'The Ten Commandments' to see the dawn of the force":

Where does the force come from? When did we discover it? When did we know how to use it? The story began to unfold and with the wonderful help of all the brilliant Canaanites and the "Star Wars" historians and their timeline we came up with some sort of amazing story with which to tell the dawn of the force 25,000 years before this guy made us show up. So it's an exciting story and I can't wait to tell it.

"Heir to the Empire" (release date: not confirmed)

"Heir to the Empire" is one of the most anticipated projects as it will serve to finalize what is known as the Mandoverse. That is, the series of "The Mandalorian," "Ashoka" and "The Book of Boba Fett," among others. Dave Filoni, who wrote all of the aforementioned series, will sit in the director's chair. This is what he assured during the Star Wars Celebration 2023 just a few weeks ago:

I'm excited, I'm going to make a movie! We looked at everything, old and new things that were created while we were thinking about this and we are putting them all together. We're going to do an epic battle that takes place, unfortunately for our heroes, after "Return of the Jedi" and just before "The Force Awakens."

"The New Jedi Order" (release date: unconfirmed)

If there is film for the past and present, could not be less with the future and that will be "The New Jedi Order," a project directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the winner of two Oscars for her short documentaries "Saving Face" (2011) and "A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness" (2015). Obaid-Chinoy was also at the Star Wars Celebration in London and explained what it means for her to join the saga:

I have always been drawn to the hero's journey and the fact that the world needs many more heroes. The hero shots we see on screen are tied to real life, and I have spent much of my life getting to know real heroes who are oppressed, redeemed and emerge victorious in the face of impossible struggles. I think that's the heart of "Star Wars," it's what drew me to the promise of the New Jedi Order and immersing myself in a Jedi academy with a powerful Jedi master.

Her film will be set fifteen years after "Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker" and will tell the story of the rebuilding of the new Jedi Order and the powers it awakens in the young apprentices. The film will also feature the return of Daisy Ridley. She played Rey in the last trilogy and will be the teacher who trains the little Jedi to become experts in the force.

"Star Wars: a Droid Story" (release date: unconfirmed)

The inseparable C-3PO and R2-D2 will also have their own project called "Star Wars: a Droid Story." The series will be made for Disney Plus and has no release date chosen. The show, announced at Disney Investors Day 2020, marks another attempt to have the two droids star in a project. The first attempt was in 1985 with the animated series entitled "Droids: The Adventures of R2D2 and C3PO."

This new project will be another animated story and will be, as explained during Disney's presentation, an intersection between animation and visual effects and a new way for Lucasfilm to explore:

As Lucasfilm continues to develop new stories, the intersection of animation and visual effects offers new opportunities for us to explore. Lucasfilm Animation will team with Lucasfilm's visual effects team, Industrial Light & Magic, to develop a new Star Wars adventure special for Disney Plus, "A Droid Story."

"Lando" (release date: not confirmed)

Disney Investors Day 2020 was the moment chosen to announce another of the most anticipated projects of the galactic saga. The series "Lando," which will arrive on Disney Plus at a date yet to be confirmed, could mark the return of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, a character he played in "Solo: A Star Wars Story." The series will be helmed by Justin Simien, creator of "Dear White People."

"Star Wars" movie directed by Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson trilogy (release date: unconfirmed)

The latest confirmed projects are a film directed by Taika Waititi, which could begin shooting in the coming months and remains a mystery to fans, and Rian Johnson's trilogy that was announced in 2017. The director will return after being behind the cameras on "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," although it is not yet known when this will be a reality, as the filmmaker's busy schedule complicates the shooting of this new installment.

However, fans can rest assured that they will be able to keep chanting, "May the force be with you," for years to come thanks to all the projects Lucasfilm will be bringing to both the big and small screen. The force still has a long way to go. As "The Mandalorian" would say: "This is the way."
