Most adults are opposed to the so-called Drag Queen Story Hour (DSH). According to a Rasmussen Reports survey, three out of five (60%) reject having these cross-dressing events in schools in the presence of minors. Only 29% consider these actions as "appropriate."
On the other hand, 51% of parents of underage students are strongly opposed to holding these performances in schools. According to this survey, both Republican (83%) and Democratic (53%) supporters view DSH's actions as at least somewhat inappropriate for minors. This opinion is also shared by 78% of independents.
There is also a strong rejection towards the idea of federal funding of cross-dressing activities in schools. 89% of Republicans, 56% of Democrats and 71% of independent voters oppose giving taxpayer funds to DSH.
Drag Queen Story Hour defines the term "drag" as "an artistic way of expressing yourself and showing the world who you are or who you want to be." It was created by progressive activist Michelle Tea in 2015 "to perform cross-dressing performances for minors as part of the woke doctrine in schools."
DSH believes that these events are necessary to "help children develop empathy, learn about gender diversity and difference, and tap into their own creativity" and states that it "believes that people of all ages should be free to express themselves however they want, free from the constraints of prescribed gender roles."
