Lisa Marie, Elvis Presley's only daughter, dies following a heart attack at age 54

Her mother Priscilla confirmed her death after being admitted to the hospital. Her last public appearance was this week at the Golden Globes.

Singer Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's only daughter, died this Thursday at the age of 54 after being hospitalized for cardiac arrest. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed Lisa Marie's death through a statement:

It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.

A lethal heart attack

An attendant at Lisa Marie's home found her passed out in her room unconscious and called paramedics and her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who arrived at the residence immediately.

The singer had suffered a heart attack, paramedics gave her epinephrine - adrenaline - on at least two occasions to try and help her regain a pulse. Minutes later, paramedics and her ex-husband managed to resuscitate her with CPR and she was rushed to the hospital, where she later passed, TMZ said.

It was Priscilla, who just a few hours before, reported through a publication which quickly spread across the social media networks, disclosed that her daughter had been rushed to the hospital and asked for prayers and "privacy" to all her followers:

My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and we ask for privacy during this time.

The Rock Princess

Lisa was a singer and actress and is known for being the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. She was born on February 1, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in her father's home until she was four years old. The couple divorced and she moved in with her mother in Los Angeles. Although she remained in contact with Elvis, when she was 9 years old, the king of rock died of cardiac arrest, apparently associated with prescription drug abuse.
