"LatinX" disappears from official Arkansas records

The governor of the state, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has justified her veto of the term following a majority rejection by the Hispanic community and the correct use of the language.

The progressive attempt to deform language and force inclusive vocabulary is not well regarded by a large majority. One of those concepts that the left tried to popularize was latinX, which met with an overwhelming opposition from Hispanics -the community mainly affected by this term- according to a survey by the Bienvenido organization. Adding to that aversion is Arkansas' new governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, by banning the use of latinX in official documents through an executive order.

Sanders, who was sworn in on Tuesday, justified this veto following Hispanics' overwhelming rejection of the term latinX and the use of correct language:

Ethnically insensitive and pejorative language has no place in official government documents or government employee titles. The government has a responsibility to respect its citizens and use ethnically appropriate language, particularly when referring to ethnic minorities.

The "x", forbidden by the RAE (Spanish Royal Academy)

The Arkansas governor cited the Real Academia Española (RAE), an official cultural institution based in Madrid, Spain, which invalidates the use of "x" to avoid gender differentiation:

One can no more easily remove gender from Spanish and other romance languages than one can remove vowels and verbs from English. It is the policy of the Governor’s administration to prohibit the use of culturally insensitive words for official state government business.

Sanders' order concludes that:

- All state offices, departments, and agencies, unless granted an exemption by the Governor, shall review official documents of their respective entities regarding the use of the term "Latinx," "latinx," "Latinxs," or "latinxs" in official state documents.

- All state offices, departments, and agencies shall submit a written report to the Governor detailing the findings of their review regarding the current use of the terms "Latinx," "latinx," "Latinxs," or "latinxs."

- Within sixty (60) days of this Order, all state offices, departments, and agencies shall revise all existing written materials by replacing the terms "Latinx," "latinx," "Latinxs," or "latinxs" with "Hispanic," "Hispanics," "Latino," "Latinos," "Latina," or "Latinas." If the changes to the revised documents require promulgation under Arkansas law, then the requisite state office, department or agency shall promulgate the revised document in accordance with Arkansas law.
