Kari Lake ahead of Katie Hobbs in the polls

The Republican candidate has made up ground, and is already ahead of Democrat Katie Hobbs in the race to become Arizona's governor.

A recent local survey, published by Fox 10 and Insider Advantage, gives Kari Lake a 3.7-point lead over Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs. While Lake has the support of 49.3% of voters, Hobbs fails to get above 45.6%. At the beginning of September it was Hobbs who outpolled the rival in voting intentions.

Kari Lake is especially strong among the younger generation. Voters between the ages of 18 and 39 give her an 11-point lead. Meanwhile, among independent voters, the Republican has a 4-point lead.

Hobbs refuses to debate

Katie Hobbs, however, feels confident enough with her chances of success that she continues to refuse a debate with Lake. Despite being behind in the polls, she has not yet decided to accept a debate that would allow her to turn the situation around.

The truth is that Kari Lake, who is a journalist, has conducted an unusual campaign, very much based on her dialectic ability, which has led her to impose herself on the press, which in general does not support the Republican candidate.

Dialectics

One of the criticisms Lake has received from her rival and from the press is that she has asked to ensure that there is no error in the counting of the votes, to avoid the mistakes that may have been made in 2020. And she has been vocal about a number of aspects of those elections.

A journalist asked her: "You say Joe Biden is dividing the country. But don't you think Donald Trump is doing the same thing by telling people, falsely, that he won the election, when he lost it?"

Lake's response is this:

How is that dividing the country? Questioning an election where there are obvious problems is dividing the country? Since when can we not ask questions about our elections? I was a journalist for many years. I was a journalist after 2016. And I distinctly remember many people, just like you, asking a lot of questions about the 2016 election results. And nobody tried to shut you up. Nobody tried to tell Hillary Clinton to shut up. Nobody tried to tell Kamala Harris, when she was questioning the legitimacy of these electronic voting machines to stop.

On the other hand, in the senatorial race, Democrat Mark Kelly has a 4.4 point lead over Blake Masters: 46% to the Republican's 41.6%. The Libertarian candidate Marc Victor has 5% support, while 7% of voters remain undecided.
