Kanye West is no longer a 'billionaire' after his break up with Adidas

Forbes magazine estimates that the rapper lost 1.1 billion dollars, leaving him off the list of richest people.

Kanye West is no longer a billionaire. Adidas decided to end its contractual relationship with the rapper and designer on Tuesday after he posted allegedly anti-Semitic comments on his Twitter account. Forbes magazine announced that the artist, now known as Ye, is out $1.1 billion due to this breakup.

Before the German brand terminated its contract with Kanye West, the rapper had assets valued at $1.5 billion. One day later, Ye's fortune is worth 400 million, 65% less, according to Forbes. Ye's net worth now only consists of his real estate portfolio, cash, music catalog and the 5% he owns of the Skims clothing brand.

"No one at Forbes can count”

Kanye West appeared on the Forbes billionaires list for the first time in 2020. That year, the business and finance magazine set the rapper's fortune at 1 billion dollars. Ye felt that Forbes undervalued his wealth:

It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion, since no one at Forbes knows how to count.

The following year, Kanye West yet again argued with Forbes over his net worth value. The magazine said that the deal he had with Adidas was worth 2 billion, while he said it was worth 4.3 billion.
