Justin Pearson was readmitted to the Tennessee state House of Representatives, as was also his colleague, Justin Jones, a few days ago. Both Democratic representatives were ousted after organizing a protest against gun ownership at the Tennessee Capitol.
The Shelby County Commission, charged with giving the final say in the matter, voted unanimously Wednesday to overturn the removal of the Democratic representative. "Brother Justin, again thank you for continuing to be the voice that you are," Shelby County Commissioner Charlie Caswell Jr. said after voting in favor of Pearson's return to the legislature.

Jones and Pearson organized a protest along with anti-gun activists after the tragic shooting at the Nashville Covenant School. On his way out of the Shelby County Commission session, Pearson was cheered on by several supporters of his cause. "The message to all the people of Nashville who decided to vote us out: you can't vote out hope, you can't vote out justice, you can't vote out our voice and you sure as hell can't vote out our fight," Pearson said after the vote.
