Jonathan Majors arrested in New York for alleged assault

The actor was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman.

Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, New York authorities said in a statement.

The NYPD said Majors, who stars in the recently released films “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded to a 911 call for help inside an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

The victim reported to police that she had been assaulted, an NYPD spokesperson said in the statement. "Officers took the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim suffered minor head and neck injuries and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition."

A representative for Majors denied any wrongdoing on the part of the actor. "He has done nothing wrong," the rep told Variety, “We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Majors is a rising star in Hollywood. After breaking out in 2019 in “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” the actor has starred in “Da 5 Bloods,” “The Harder They Fall” and most recently “Devotion.”
