President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, has given a press conference two days after losing the presidential election. He did so in a speech in which he avoided talking about his opponent, Lula da Silva. His statements came 44 hours after da Silva's victory was announced, and lasted barely two minutes.

The still president (until January 1, 2023) spoke of the protests sweeping across the country: "Current popular movements are the result of indignation and a feeling of injustice regarding how the electoral process occurred," he said, referring to the congregations that are taking place all over the country called by many citizens who are against the electoral result.
To these people he also wanted to send a message: "Peaceful demonstrations are always welcome, but our methods cannot be those of the left, which are not the same as those of the right that have always been detrimental to the population with things like property invasion, destruction of heritage and restrictions on coming and going."
The Brazilian president, who at no time mentioned Lula da Silva, wanted to conclude his statements by making it clear that he will abide by the Constitution and that his party will remain the same.

Words that the conservative leader reaffirmed, assuring that "it is an honor to be the leader of millions of Brazilians who, like me, defend economic freedom, religious freedom, freedom of opinion, honesty and the green and yellow colors of our flag".

I want to begin by thanking the 58 million Brazilians who voted for me last October 30.
Current popular movements are the result of indignation and a feeling of injustice regarding how the electoral process occurred. Peaceful demonstrations are always welcome but our methods cannot be those of the left that have always harmed the population such as the invasion of properties, destruction of patrimony and restriction of coming and going.
The right really emerged in the country. Our robust representation in Congress shows the strength of our values: 'God, country, family and freedom'. We form diverse leaderships throughout the country.
Our dream is more alive than ever. We are for order and progress. Even by confronting the entire system, we overcame a pandemic and the consequences of a war. I was always labeled as anti-democratic and, contrary to my accusers, I always played within the four lines of the Constitution. I never spoke of controlling or censoring the media and social networks. As president of the republic and a citizen, I will continue to comply with all the commandments of our Constitution.
It is an honor to be the leader of millions of Brazilians who, like me, defend economic freedom, religious freedom, freedom of opinion, honesty and the green and yellow colors of our flag. Thank you very much.
