Indy 500: all set for one of racing's great spectacles

Motor racing enthusiasts will enjoy the 107th edition of one of the most prestigious races in the world. Alex Palou will start from pole position.

This Sunday, motoring enthusiasts can view the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, colloquially known as the Indy 500, one of the most important races in the world, held every year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway circuit and belonging to the IndyCar Series racing category.

This year, the 2.5-mile track in Indianapolis will host the 107th edition of the Indianapolis 500. In total, 33 drivers will fight for the title, nine of whom already are former champions (Helio Castroneves, who is the most experienced driver at the track in the field, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi, Takuma Sato, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud and Marcus Ericsson). Four others will be racing for the first time in the Indy 500 (Benjamin Pedersen, Augustin Canapino, RC Enerson and Sting Ray Robb).

Spanish driver Alex Palou earned pole position, followed by Rinus VeeKay from the Netherlands and Felix Rosenqvist from Sweden. Starting in the second row will be the American Santino Ferrucci, the Mexican Patricio "Pato" O'Ward and the New Zealander Scott Dixon.
