Idaho: suspect arrested in connection with murders of four college students

Local police had received more than 13,000 tips related to the case, in addition to thousands of digital media submissions. And the search still continues for the white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra believed to have been near the house on Nov. 13.

The police chief and university officials are expected to give an update on the case at a press conference in the coming hours.

According to Julie Wiest, a professor of sociology at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and an expert on extreme violence in the media, because this particular murder has attracted worldwide attention, it is likely that law enforcement will release very little information to prevent speculation:

Usually by now, there's more facts that have been released by law enforcement, so I could see that ramping up the sort of digging and almost grasping at straws by people… It's not that typical, except in high-profile cold cases, where you might see people digging in that way.
