Hunter Biden Case: IRS agent's lawyer gives more details about his client

Attorney Mark Lytle said the whistleblower is 'not a political person' and just wants to tell the truth about the investigation into the president's son.

This Thursday, Mark Lytle, the attorney for the IRS criminal oversight agent who claims to have evidence of political interference in a major ongoing investigation, gave an interview with more details about his client.

The lawyer appeared on the program Special Report with Bret Baier to discuss the IRS whistleblower who sent a letter claiming that he is willing to provide sensitive information about the investigation of a "high-profile, controversial" subject, presumed to be the case of the President's son, Hunter Biden.

"My client is a career law enforcement officer who is respected within the IRS and he teaches other agents how to properly do investigations. He knows when to spot when investigative steps aren't done in a traditional way to get to the truth," Lytle stated.

The lawyer wanted to clarify that his client is "not a political person" and hinted that he was not interested in being in the public eye. However, he considers it important to talk about the particularities he has been detecting in the process of the investigation.

"My client wrestled with whether or not to come forward," recounted Lytle highlighting that the agent had "sleepless nights," but in the end "decided he could not live with himself if he stayed quiet and said nothing."

The lawyer assured that his client is willing and even insists on talking to both Democrats and Republicans and that he has documents that will back up what he has to say. However, he first needs to be granted whistleblower protection.

The White House responds

After it came to light that an IRS agent may have information about alleged political interference in the Hunter Biden case, the White House asserted that there has been no mishandling of the investigation into the president's son.

"President Biden has made clear that this matter would be handled independently by the Justice Department, under the leadership of a U.S. Attorney appointed by former President Trump, free from any political interference by the White House. He has upheld that commitment," assured Ian Sams, spokesman for the White House.

However, Hunter Biden's lawyer, Chrís Clark, did not seem to take the news calmly, as he immediately pointed out that the agent committed a crime.

"It is a felony for an IRS agent to improperly disclose information about an ongoing tax investigation. The IRS has incredible power, and abusing that power by targeting, embarrassing or disclosing information about a private citizen’s tax matters undermines Americans’ faith in the federal government," he said.

Lytle assured that both he and his client knew they would be attacked, but are still willing to "tell the truth."
