House subpoenas former Serbian official to testify on alleged Biden family bribery scheme

Connections include ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

This Tuesday the Republican-led House Oversight Committee asked Vuk Jeremić, a former Serbian politician and former president of the United Nations General Assembly, to testify about Biden's family's involvement in alleged international bribery schemes involving connections to the Chinese Communist Party.

James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky and chairman of the committee, sent a letter to the former Serbian foreign minister asking for a personal interview with him. He also requested that he hand over documents related to Hunter Biden, the president's son, following statements Jeremić gave during the trial of Patrick Ho, the former head of a Chinese energy company who was sentenced for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in 2018.

"Mr. Jeremić’s previous testimony regarding business relationships with officials who participated in international bribery schemes raises red flags that there may be evidence showing the Biden family and associates peddled influence and attempted to sell access, including to individuals connected to the Chinese Communist Party," explained Comer.

The Committee Chairman also reported that, if President Joe Biden were to be compromised by deals with foreign adversaries, he would be "a clear threat to national security."

The committee "is investigating whether President Biden knew of or was involved in certain foreign business ventures," Comer explained to Jeremić, highlighting that the "Oversight Committee is committed to bringing transparency and accountability to the waste, fraud, and abuse that has taken place at the highest levels of government. Mr. Jeremić's documents are crucial to this investigation."

Comer toldJeremić that he has until March 14 to hand over all the requested documents. The former Serbian foreign minister has not commented on the matter.
