Hispanics will have the final say in Pennsylvania midterms

Republican candidate Oz is locked in a technical tie with Democrat Fetterman in Pennsylvania boosted by Hispanic support.

The Hispanic vote may be the key to Republican Mehmet Oz's victory over Democrat John Fetterman in the Pennsylvania midterms. A recent poll revealed that Hispanic support for the Republican candidate exceeds that of his rival by nearly 15 points.

The candidates reach the final stretch of the campaign in a technical tie (43% for the renowned cardiologist versus 45% for the state's Lieutenant Governor). At the end of July, Fetterman held an 11-point lead. Given its overwhelming support for Oz, the Hispanic community will play a key role in electing the state's next representative to the Senate.

Change in the direction of the vote

According to the latest poll released by Emerson College and The Hill, 46.2% of Hispanics back Oz. Fetterman, on the other hand, garnered support from just 32.1% of Hispanic respondents.

These data represent a complete reversal of Hispanic voting trends. In 2020, Joe Biden won 65% of the Hispanic vote in Pennsylvania, which proved decisive for his final victory, according to an NBC News exit poll. However, the most recent Emerson poll shows that 51% of this community would elect Donald Trump in 2024 over the current president.
