Prince Harry, excluded from Charles III coronation ceremonies

Promotional interviews for his autobiographical book 'Spare', which is released this Tuesday, and the Netflix docuseries, were key to the monarch's decision.

Prince Harry will not participate in the coronation ceremony of his father, King Charles III of England. British Royal Household sources told The Sunday Times that the monarch has modified the traditional events so that the only member to speak at the celebrations will be the Prince of Wales. A decision that has been notably influenced by the Netflix docuseries of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the publication of Spare, an autobiographical book by Harry that goes on sale this Tuesday and whose previews have caused serious headaches for the royal family.

According to the media outlet's Royal editor, Roya Nikkhah, "breaking with tradition, Charles will scrap royal dukes kneeling and paying homage to the monarch. Only William will perform that role." Until now, all the dukes participated in this act, swearing allegiance to the monarch. The changes will also prevent Prince Andrew from being able to appear in photos with his brother. With the current situation of the royal family and the scandals that haunt them, the king has preferred to highlight the role of the heir, rewarding his work and his stoic performance amid the turbulence caused by his brother Harry.

Harry does not confirm his presence at the event

The news comes as the prince continues pulling a daisy about his presence at the event, scheduled for Saturday, May 6. At first he assured that he would not attend if Camila was crowned queen as well. Subsequently, he stated that he was not clear about his decision. In the last statements on the matter, given in an interview last Sunday on ITV, Harry would not commit to being present at the event.

Attacks on the royal family

In the wake of the controversial Netflix documentary in which Harry and his wife Megan Markle hit out at the British institution, the publication of the Spare, Harry's book, and the promotional interviews the Duke of Sussex has given in recent weeks, airing negative personal anecdotes of members of the royal family have put an end to the patience of Charles III. The Prince of Wales comes off one of the worst off in his son´s memoirs. Harry recounts his fights with the heir, including insults and physical aggression.

According to The Guardian, the book records a fight between the two brothers on an occasion when they met to talk about dealing with the press. During the meeting, and according to Harry's version of events, William criticized Meghan for being a "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive" person, which caused the conversation to escalate in tone and, after an exchange of shouts, the Duke of Cambridge physically hit the Duke of Sussex.

It all happened so fast. Very fast. He grabbed me by the neck, ripped my necklace and threw me to the ground. I landed on the dog dish, which broke apart under my back, the pieces cutting me. I stood there for a moment, stunned, then stood up and told him to get out.

"Don't make my last years a misery."

The quarrels between the two brothers have been a constant since Harry's marriage to Megan, to the point that their father asked them both, after the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, "not to make my final years a misery."

This is not the only gem that Spare's reading leaves you with. Charles and Diana's youngest son accuses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of encouraging him to dress up in costume with a Nazi uniform, acknowledges the drug use and alcohol during his adolescence and youth, he counted the number of Taliban he shot during his time with the British army in Afghanistan and revealed that he forced his driver to drive through the Paris tunnel in which his mother lost her life at the same speed at which his vehicle was traveling at the time of the accident.
