Former President Donald Trump's announcement of his intention to run for president in 2024 did not go unnoticed across the political spectrum. From President Joe Biden to his fellow Republican Party members - some in favor of the former president’s news while others remain opposed - wanted to express their opinion on Trump's candidacy.
Joe Biden posted a tweet saying that Trump "failed America” accompanied by a video in which he accuses the former president of shifting the economy in favor of the wealthy, increasing unemployment, supporting abortion restrictions and inciting a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

From the Republican Party, prominent representatives such as Senator Lindsey Graham (North Carolina) or gubernatorial candidate Kary Lake (Arizona) celebrated Donald Trump's announcement and showed their support for the former president's candidacy.
If President Trump continues this tone and delivers this message on a consistent basis, he will be hard to beat.
His speech tonight, contrasting his policies and results against the Biden Administration, charts a winning path for him in the primaries and general election.

Others, like Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (Georgia) were quick to reclaim Donald Trump's famous campaign slogan:

Ron DeSantis' long awaited opinion
One of the most anticipated reactions to Donald Trump's candidacy is that of Ron DeSantis. The Florida governor did not immediately respond to the former president's announcement but did refer to the recent attacks against him. When asked by reporters about Trump's criticism, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted that "when you're getting things done, you take incoming fire, that's just the nature of it."
Ron DeSantis made this comment before Trump made his announcement noting that any controversy surrounding what Trump says is "just noise." In this regard, it is worth noting that Donald Trump did not refer to DeSantis or any other of his possible rivals within the GOP for the presidency and focused his message on criticizing Democratic President Joe Biden.
Ron DeSantis finally responds to Trump criticism ahead of the former president's announcement tonight:
