Former CIA director admits he dismissed Hunter Biden story to prevent Trump from winning election

Michael Morrell said he signed an open letter and spoke to other former intelligence officials to do the same.

Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell admitted that he signed a letter debunking the Hunter Biden laptop story because he wanted President Joe Biden to win the election against Donald Trump.

Morrell presented before the House Judiciary Committee and explained that in the year 2020 Antony Blinken, the current Secretary of State, then a senior member of the Biden campaign, contacted him about Hunter Biden and told him that the FBI was investigating whether the story was part of a "disinformation campaign."

The former CIA official acknowledged that, as a result of this conversation, he contacted other former intelligence officials and organized an open letter stating that the reports about the president's son had all the "classic" characteristics of a Russian operation. The letter was signed by 51 former officers.

"There were two intents. One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President Biden," the former CIA director acknowledged, clarifying that what he was looking for was for Joe Biden to beat Donald Trump.

This letter was extremely influential in the election, as it was endorsed by five former CIA directors. The current president even used it to dismiss reports about his son during the October 22, 2020 debate against Trump.

Political interference in investigation

Recently an IRS agent also came forward to say that he has evidence about how politics interfered in the Hunter Biden case and gave undue preferential treatment to the investigation, affecting the protocols.

The IRS criminal oversight agent sent a letter assuring that he is willing to provide sensitive information about the ongoing investigation. However, he first requested whistleblower protection for divulging legally protected information.

It is important to note that although the agent did not specifically refer to his disclosures having to do specifically with the case of the president's son, several media outlets assured that their sources confirmed that it was specifically about that investigation.
