Florida leads the national higher education rankings in terms of quality and ease of access to its universities. According to the ranking put together by USNews & World Report, which measures indicators such as the proportion of citizens who graduate or the time it takes to complete their studies, Florida ranked first in the country.
Governor Ron DeSantis boasted the state's good ranking: "We keep the cost of our public universities and colleges low so students can pay for their education without incurring crippling debt," he said on Twitter.

Low rates and less debt for graduates
The annual USNews report measured other metrics such as the cost of in-state tuition and fees or the debt burden of college graduates. Florida's education excels the most in this economic aspect.
Florida, home to three universities ranked among the top 100 in the country, ranks first in the nation for higher education. It is followed in the overall ranking by Washington, California, Wyoming and Colorado.
Parental involvement and the end of indoctrination
In April, Ron DeSantis signed a bill to reform higher education in Florida. The bill eliminated the stranglehold that teachers' unions and accrediting agencies have had on universities and colleges and added transparency requirements for tuition, fees and cost of materials.
"Florida's public college and university system is number one in the nation because we put students first," said Governor DeSantis. "Florida students deserve a quality, affordable education and do not need ideological activists and political organizations determining what they should learn. By introducing strong curriculum transparency requirements and providing accountability for tenured faculty, Florida is standing with students and parents across our state."
