The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this week gave the green light to a business group linked to George Soros to purchase 18 Spanish-language radio stations across the country.
Thus, Latino Media Network group will gain control of almost twenty stations in ten markets from Televisa Univision for US$60 million.
Latino Media Network is controlled by, among others, Jess Morales Rocketto, a former member of Hillary for America and the AFL-CIO, and Mexican businesswoman Stephanie Valencia, a former White House staffer during Barack Obama's presidency. It also counts the presence on the board of directors of personalities such as actress Eva Longoria. One of the major financiers of the media group is George Soros. The Hungarian tycoon heavily linked to the Democrats is behind the company Lakestar Finance, which in turn is linked to the investment group, Soros Fund Management.
The emergence of George Soros in the Latino media landscape is intimately linked to the growing importance of the Hispanic-American community in the political landscape of the country. The voice of the Latino community is progressively becoming more relevant in the political world while at the same time, increasingly distant from the Democratic Party.
Hence, the Democratic environment - in this case via George Soros - is trying to take control of stations that directly reach Hispanic audiences through their own language, Spanish. Several Republican representatives warned last summer of this maneuver and tried to paralyze the media assault, which was finally approved by the FCC.

With the takeover by the leftist billionaire, the Hispanic American community fears that some conservative referents, as is the case of Radio Mambí for the Cuban community in Florida, will become the new progressive media outlets that dominate in a media landscape ruled by the establishment.
