Elon Musk said he would support Ron DeSantis should he run in the 2024 presidential election. Through his Twitter account, the new owner of the social network responded to a user's question about whether he would support DeSantis' candidacy to be the next President of the United States:
- Would you support Ron DeSantis in 2024, Elon?
- Yes.

Musk stated that in the 2020 presidential election he voted for Joe Biden, although he acknowledged in May that he would not vote Democratic again:
As a reminder, I was a significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump. But Twitter as a platform must be fair to all. In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
He also opined on Trump not tweeting after reactivating his account:
I'm fine with Trump not tweeting. The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service.
Deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.
