Dwyane Wade sold his Florida home because his transgender son "would not be accepted there."

The former basketball player left his beachfront mansion in Miami for Los Angeles County, California.

Former basketball player Dwyane Wade announced that he sold his home and moved out of Florida because the state's transgender policies would not allow his family to feel comfortable.

The former NBA star revealed that despite his love for Miami and the tax benefits that the state of Florida has, he had to make the decision to change the huge house he had in front of the sea, to move to Los Angeles County, California.

In an interview for the Headliners with Rachel Nichols program, the retired Miami Heat icon was asked about what he would like to say to the conservative Florida politicians who are part of his fan base. It was then that Wade explained that, as a father he can no longer make "personal, individual decisions," so he decided to move to a place where he believes all members of his family would feel more comfortable.

"I mean, obviously, the [situación] fiscal is excellent. Having Wade County is excellent. But my family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there. And that's one of the reasons I don't live there," he said.

It is worth noting that afterWade's son came out as transgender in 2020, when he was only 12 years old, the former star battled legally and managed to change his name and gender to Zaya, despite the mother's objections.

Siohvaughn Funchesthe star's ex-wife and Zaya's mother, even went as far as to submit a petition before a judge to try to block his son's change and accused Wade of using his son's gender transition to profit from brand partnerships and other deals.
