Donald Trump sweeps the polls: pulls more than 30 points ahead of DeSantis

The rest of the official candidates together barely add up to 10%, while Pence, who has not yet confirmed, would get 5.3% of the vote.

Despite the expected emergence of Ron DeSantis into the Republican primary race, Donald Trump continues to sweep the polls. According to the latest published surveys, the former president is more than 30 points ahead of the Florida governor, the second preferences of conservative voters, with the difference reaching as much as 56 points in some cases. The forecasts for the rest of the official candidates barely exceed 10% overall, to which should be added the 5.3% they give to former Vice President Mike Pence, who has not yet stepped into the race.

The Stormy Daniels case spurred popularity and support for Trump, who went from a tight race with DeSantis, in which he even trailed behind his former running mate, to not even seeing his rivals in the rearview mirror.

Quinnipiac University

Published the day DeSantis launched his candidacy, it gives a 31-point lead to Donald Trump. The former president has the support of 56% of those surveyed, while the governor is at 25%.

CNN

The poll in which the race is the tightest. Only 27 points separate the former president from his former protégé, although the figures in which both are moving are very similar. 53% for the former president versus 26% for the Florida governor, who has lost 13 points in voting intentions since March.

Clarity Labs

The survey that shows the biggest difference for the former president. According to this poll, there is a 56-point gap between the two rivals, with Trump nearing 70% support.

Fox News

The TV news channel gives 53% of voting intention to the former president, while DeSantis has 33 points less (20%).

Cygnal

According to Cygnal, the gap between Trump and DeSantis reached its widest point (31 points) in May. In this poll, the former president is the preferred choice of 52% of the respondents.

The rest of the candidates, anecdotal

The expectations of the rest of the candidates are, at this point, predominately anecdotal. In fact, the third favorite, Pence has not even confirmed that he will compete to represent the GOP in the 2024 presidential election. The sum of vote projections for the remaining official candidates is 10.1%, with Nikki Haley (4.2%) and Vivek Ramaswany (3.5%) as fourth and fifth choices, respectively. Closing out the list are newcomer Senator Tim Scott (1.6%) and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (0.8%).
