Donald Trump confirms he was indicted and will have to appear in federal court

The former president was summoned to Miami at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Former President Donald Trump reported through his social network that the Department of Justice formally charged him for the classified documents found in his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

On Thursday night, the former president made a series of posts on Truth Social informing that he was summoned at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday to appear before the Federal Court in Miami.

“I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former president of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the history of our country and is currently leading, by far, all candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in polls of the 2024 presidential election,” he wrote.

Trump insisted that he is innocent and claimed that it is Joe Biden who has 1850 boxes of classified documents. “This is truly a dark day for the United States of America. We are a country in serious and rapid decline, but together we will make America great again!” he added.

Shortly after, the former president shared a four-minute video claiming that the case against him “is a hoax” and that it is all about “election interference” as never before in the country.

Seven charges against him

According to the former president’s attorney, John Rowley, Trump is being charged with seven counts. However, it is not yet known exactly what the counts are.

White House declines to comment

According to NBC News, a White House spokesman declined to comment further on the indictment against Trump. The Justice Department “conducts its criminal investigations independently,” he said.

Vivek Ramaswamy vows to pardon Trump

Republican presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, reported that if he were to win the election and Trump is convicted, he would pardon the president.

“It would be much easier for me to win this election if Trump weren’t in the race, but I stand for principles over politics. I commit to pardon Trump promptly on January 20, 2025, and to restore the rule of law in our country,” he said.
