Democratic congresswoman reveals Biden's future: "He's not going to run again"

New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney indicated "off the record" that the president will not run for re-election in 2024. She believes that "on the record" he should not do so either.

Carolyn Maloney has unveiled Joe Biden's future and the Democratic Party's desires surrounding his possible presidential candidacy in 2024. The Democratic representative from New York stated that the president not only should not run for reelection, but that he is not going to do so.

During an interview with the New York Times, the congresswoman expressed her doubts about Biden. "Off the record, he’s not running again," Maloney noted in her meeting with the NTY editorial board. A board member asked her for her 'official' opinion: "On the record? No, he should not run again," replied. Maloney made the comments during an "on the record" interview, and both parties must agree that something is "off the record" for it to be considered so.

In an interview on CNN, Maloney later apologized, noting that she wants Biden to run again. However, she reiterated that she does not believe he will do so. She is not the only congresswoman to cast doubt on Biden's 2024 candidacy. Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota said last month that he would not support the president in 2024.

Maloney's statement is especially relevant to Democratic sentiment. The representative, with three decades of service in Congress, pointed out that Biden's problem is not age-related, as the congresswoman herself is 76 years old. What is certain is that Biden' s low approval rating worries Democrats in the midterm election campaign.
