Colorado Springs: at least five dead, 18 injured in shooting at LGBT nightclub

One suspect was arrested. Police have not yet offered any information about the potential motivation for the attack.

At least five people were killed and 18 others were injured in a shooting that occurred late Saturday night at an LGBT nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colo. A suspect, who is being treated for several wounds received, was arrested following the shooting. The attacker, as reported by Colorado police, is a 22-year-old identified as Anderson Lee Aldrich, who just before midnight entered the premises and immediately opened fire on the people inside.

Police received a phone call at midnight local time reporting that a shooting was in progress at Club Q. According to its website, it is an "adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub". Saturday night featured a drag event.

Club Q management stated in a message on their Facebook account that they are "devastated by the senseless attack on our community. We thank the quick reaction of heroic customers that subdued the gunman ended this hateful attack."

Colorado Springs police have not offered any information on potential motives for the attack.
