Ciscomani criticizes Biden in Spanish: "The administration continues to push policies that hurt our families"

The Hispanic representative emphasized the American dream and referenced persistent problems such as crime, the border crisis and China.

Juan Ciscomani, the Republican representative in charge of responding in Spanish to the President's State of the Union Address, criticized the Biden administration for implementing measures that hurt American families:

Today we are at a critical point in our nation's history. Now, more than ever, we need to aggressively fight for the values that have made the American dream possible for so many. But, as we can see, President Biden and his administration continue to push policies that hurt our families. The results speak for themselves. The cost of housing is out of control, the price of milk and bread continues to rise, and buying eggs now seems like a luxury. Gasoline is still expensive, which affects everything we consume. It is almost impossible to buy a house because of the cost and the high interest rates. And the drug crisis with fentanyl, which continues to steal thousands of lives and destroy families.

In addition, Ciscomani listed the problems that need to be effectively addressed, such as the border crisis, education, national security, crime and healthcare. Regarding national security and China's threat to the country's freedom and prosperity, Ciscomani stressed the need to invest in the military.

The American dream

The representative delivered the speech from his office, accompanied by the flags of the United States and the state of Arizona, along with a photo of his family in the background. He emphasized the American dream and how Biden and his cabinet are destroying that idea for both immigrants and natives:

President Biden wants to tell us that everything is going great. But why don't we feel wonderful? The American dream seems unattainable, and, unfortunately, the president continues to fail to exercise leadership. By presenting no viable remedy, he has had no solutions and clearly still does not. But House Republicans are already beginning to offer a different direction, a direction that directly confronts the issues most important to our nation's families. Under the leadership of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, we have made a commitment to America, to each of you.

Ciscomani, who was born in Mexico, gave his family as an example and recounted how they prospered in the United States:

If you talk to my dad today, he'll say, 'Where else in the world can we have our own story? We came to this country with nothing, learned English, immersed ourselves in the culture and became citizens. I drove a bus most of my life and my son is now a member of the U.S. Congress. Where else could we have our story? The answer is simple: nowhere else in the world.' This is happening here in the United States, the land of opportunity. And there are many stories like mine.
