Cell phone of Cristina Kirchner's assailant reset under police control

The strange circumstances of the case reach the security of the former president: the lack of attention before the attack and the inaction afterward call into question their performance.

The circumstances of the attack on Cristina Kirchner amid her attempt to escape justice are getting stranger and stranger. One of the main pieces of evidence, the assailant's cell phone, was factory reset by the Federal Police when they tried to access the information, which may now have been permanently lost.

At first, there were several attempts to unlock it by the Federal Police, and when the Airport Security Police later tried to open it, they found that it had been "factory reset", reports Infobae. As a result, the information on the cell phone, which could be key to the clarification of these events, may have been lost. What has been accessed is the SIM card, which contains the contacts of Fernando Sabag Montiel, the alleged aggressor, as well as some images.

Serious security flaws

The act of Fernando Sabag Montiel is involved in another series of strange circumstances, such as those related to Cristina Kirchner's security. On the one hand, a ring of protection for the former president was not created, as is customary for presidents such as a head of state.

According to an analysis by Nicolás Diana for Clarín and La Vanguardia, it was not the only big mistake. The outer cordon of the Federal Police also failed. Their attitude is strange from the moment they looked all the time at the former president, and not at the crowd, which is where the danger could be. Its agents were paralyzed after the attack. They neither pounced on Kirchner nor cleared the area. She was also not put in the custody car, which could have protected her, and left the scene at high speed. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner continued walking another 50 meters to her home.

Assailant's girlfriend arrested

Agustín Rossi, head of the Federal Intelligence Agency, declared this Sunday that they had no alert on Sabag Montiel and that he is probably "a lone wolf". Subsequently, the judge investigating the case, María Eugenia Capuchetti, ordered the arrest of his girlfriend, Brenda Uliarte.

Uliarte had stated to the media that she had not seen her boyfriend in two days, but it is known that they were together on the afternoon of the incident and that they went to collect the rent at the hair salon owned by Sabag Montiel.
