Brazil makes its bid to win the World Cup by dominating Serbia

The 'canarinha' won 2-0 with a brace by Richarlison. Neymar withdrew with an injury and his continuity in the tournament depends on his evolution.

Brazil defeated Serbia by 2 goals to 0 in the match that closed out the first round of games in the group qualifying stage of the World Cup in Qatar. Showing why they are always one of the favorites to win the tournament, Tite's team dominated and gave the Balkans no chance, with center forward Richarlison scoring the two goals that gave them the three points.

The Canarinha's dominance was evident from the first moments of the match. Although Serbia came out with a lot of energy on the pitch, Brazil had their impetus quelled before the tenth minute was up. The first chance came from Neymar, who came close to scoring a direct goal from a corner. The clock was ticking and Brazil continued to dominate the game but could not score. For their part, Serbia were unable to get close to the goal defended by Alisson Becker.

At the start of the second half, the script of the match was exactly the same as in the first half. Brazil continued to show their quality and began to reach the opponent's area with more danger. In the 59th minute, left back Alex Sandro hit the post with a long-range shot and, 180 seconds later, Richarlison scored the first goal of the match (1-0). The Canarinha striker took advantage of a good move to put Brazil ahead on the scoreboard.

In the 73rd minute came the one that, so far, is the goal of the World Cup. Again by Richarlison, who beat the Serbian goalkeeper with an acrobatic finish after a great assist from Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr (2-0). Seven minutes later, Brazil could have extended their lead when Casemiro's shot hit the crossbar. Neymar left the match with a sprained ankle and his continuity in the World Cup depends on the severity of his injury.

With this victory, Brazil is at the top of the group with 3 points, the same as Switzerland, followed by Cameroon and Serbia who have 0 points.
