President Joe Biden' s approval rating plunged to 38% - almost the lowest point of his term - according to a new Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research (AP-NORC) poll.
The drop comes amid the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in recent weeks. These bank failures have exacerbated existing fears of a severe recession and economic crisis.

Worst approval rating since July 2022
Biden had an approval rating of 45% in February and 41% in January. His approval reached the lowest point of his mandate (36%) in July 2022. At that time rising costs of gasoline, food, among other negative economic aspects, began to affect the finances of U.S. households.
Ratings of his administration's foreign policy (39%) and climate change policies (41%) hover around the same levels as his overall approval ratings. Among voter affiliations or inclinations: 74% of Democrats and only 9% of Republicans approve of Biden's foreign policy. In his handling of policies to prevent climate change, 67% of Democrats and 17% of Republicans support him.
On the other hand, 76% of Democrats support his work as president and 63% approve of his handling of the economy. In the case of the Republicans, these figures are significantly lower. Only 4% of GOP voters support his performance as president and 3% support his handling of the economy.
The survey was conducted among 1,081 adults from March 16 to 20. The margin of error for all respondents is about 4%.
