He is the first Hispanic to win the 'Best Artist of the Year' award. "I am Benito Antonio Martínez from Puerto Rico to the whole world."

Bad Bunny was the star of the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 gala. He won the "Best Artist of the Year" award. The singer made history by being the first Hispanic artist to win it, showing pride in his culture and language.

I have been saying it and I have always believed it from the beginning, that I could become great, that I could become one of the biggest stars in the world, without having to change my culture, my language, my lingo, my jargon. I am Benito Antonio Martinez from Puerto Rico to the whole world.

The Puerto Rican, absent from the MTV ceremony at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, received the award while giving a concert at Yankee Stadium in New York. An award for which artists such as Ed Sheeran, Drake or Harry Styles were also eligible.

Bad Bunny was also nominated for "Best Latin", an award that was won by Brazilian singer Anitta.
