The events occurred at a house in north county, where a post-prom party was being held after the prom. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office received a call alerting them to several shots fired.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found nine people with gunshot wounds, none of them serious. Some had to be transported to the hospital, as confirmed by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office:

The incident erupted at an after-prom party that was being held at the residence on County Road 263. Most victims were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital, and some were transferred to Christus St. Elizabeth for further treatment.
