AOC flops with her debut as a film production company

The far-left congresswoman has produced and stars in 'To the End,' whose box office take is no more than $80 a day.

Far-left congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made the leap to the big screen. While it is true that in 2019 she starred in Knock Down the House - a documentary about her arrival in Congress along with other members of the Democratic Party - this time she has dared to produce her own film. And it´s a massive failure at the box office.

To the End is a production that tells the story of four women -among them AOC herself - who want to stop climate change from the political sidelines. It took four years to shoot - even the biggest Hollywood production doesn't take that long - and the budget to produce it has not been disclosed. Its box office return is proving minimal: in one week it grossed less than $10,000 in 120 theaters, or $80 a day in each theater.

AOC has surrounded herself with progressive activists for the film. She shares her spotlight with Varshini Prakash of the Sunrise Movement - which describes itself as "a youth movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process" -; Alexandra Rojas of Justice Democrats - a progressive political action committee -; and Rhiana Gunn-Wright, Director of Climate Policy at the Roosevelt Institute - a left-wing think tank-.

Critics laugh at its production

Despite the fact that the well-known leftist movie review website Rotten Tomatoes rates AOC's film positively -with 83%-, other critics and portals confirm the ridiculousness of the Democratic representative on the big screen.

The prestigious website IMDb gives it a score of 1.4 out of 10, which reflects why moviegoers don't go to theaters. Film critic Sean Burns of Spliced Personality called it "a bummer Knock Down the House semi-sequel that should have called ‘The Fossil Fuel Empire Strikes Back'."
