Antifa radicals attack construction site of new Atlanta police training camp

Far-left activists vandalized the complex with bricks, stones and Molotov cocktails, burning construction machinery.

Antifa radicals attacked the construction site of the future Atlanta Police Department training center, burning construction equipment along with part of the facilities. Violent extremists infiltrated a peaceful demonstration against against the construction of the complex and attacked the police officers present, throwing bricks, stones and Molotov cocktails at them. After gaining access to the compound, they proceeded to do as much damage as possible before a large group of officers arrived on the scene and managed to repel the attack, arresting 35 people.

In a Facebook post, the Atlanta Police Department claimed that it was "a coordinated attack" against the officers and the training center itself. The assailants "changed into black clothing, entered the construction area, and began throwing large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers." In the video, several officers can be seen allowing the passage of police vehicles when the violent protestors began the assault. They were ultimately left with no choice but to leave the gates open due to the hostility of the attacks.

No agents injured after Antifa attack Antifa

As a result of the attack, construction equipment was destroyed (including a tractor, which was set on fire) as well as part of the lawn inside the complex. After reinforcements arrived, the officers managed to dispel the radicals and set up a security perimeter with patrol cars.

In the report, police did not indicate that any officers were injured, although they stressed that this appeared to be the goal of the attack. "The illegal actions of the agitators could have caused bodily injury," the official statement said. The department also noted that the 35 arrests were made without the use of lethal means and that officers acted with restraint in the confrontations.

Antifa announces "week of mobilization"

Yesterday's attack was part of the "week of mobilization" announced by members of Antifa. Police requested that protests be conducted in a peaceful manner and warned radicals that, "With protests planned for the coming days, the Atlanta Police Department, in collaboration with law enforcement partners, has a multi-layered strategy that includes reaction and arrest."

"Night of rage" in January

Since its construction was announced, the Public Safety Training Center has been in the crosshairs of radical leftists, who consider it an attack on the forest in which it is being built. The protests intensified in January, when an activist was shot and killed after shooting and seriously injuring an officer during protests. The reaction of Antifa was to call for "a night of rage" in Atlanta on Jan. 20, inviting violent people across the country to show up and attack police officers.

On the following Saturday, the agitators took advantage of a violent demonstration to attack the headquarters of the Police Foundation in Atlanta, burning a patrol car and throwing fireworks and stones at the agents. The activists also damaged street furniture and smashed store windows. Police reported that six people were arrested with explosive material in their backpacks.
